Leah Sherman-Collins, MSW, LICSW (she/her)

My work is centered around supporting my clients in living a life with meaning, joy, and purpose by working together to address what may be getting in the way. In our sessions, we will give attention to the symptoms you’re dealing with while also addressing the root(s) of your struggles, individually, generationally, and/or systemically.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in community health settings in women’s sexual & reproductive health, giving me important insight into medical-related stresses and challenges. I work with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, and body image issues. I also work with families navigating older adult-specific issues.

Always compassionate, respectful, and optimistic, my approach is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA+ inclusive. I may incorporate body-centered psychotherapy and mindfulness, as stress affects the entire body. As an integrative therapist, I draw from ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Narrative Therapy, and IFS (Internal Family Systems) to inform how I work with my clients. For Anxiety & OCD symptoms, I also utilize ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention) interventions. I integrate these evidence-based approaches with your own wisdom and experience on this journey.

After working together, my hope is for my clients to also develop a deeper sense of compassion for their current experiences and coping strategies, making it easier to move through a complex and often unpredictable world.

Therapy is centered on you—your goals, experiences, and personal growth. I also recognize that therapy can be deeply connected to larger social and political contexts. You may want to explore aspects of your identity or perspective that shape how you experience the world and how the world views you. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and their values. Whether you are an immigrant, documented or undocumented, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, hold any other marginalized identity, or seek a confidential space to process your thoughts on state-sponsored violence, you are welcome and safe here.
